About the exciting outdoor life of the Author

Join me as I explore the many facets of outdoor life on outadviser.com

I have lived, worked, and played outside for my entire life. The out-of-doors has helped me keep my sanity in times of strife and other times just added to all that life has to offer. I love to go camping, hiking, riding bicycle, rock & gem collecting, panning for gold, canoeing, and metal detecting. I also enjoy motorcycling.

In my younger days, I was a runner and long-distance cyclist. I’m not even sure how many century rides I’ve ridden. Although I don’t do that anymore I do still love getting on my bicycle and riding the many rails to trails we are fortunate enough to have here in Minnesota.

I’ve also spent some time in Antarctica working for the National Science Foundation. It was there that I took cold weather survival training. We were required to come up with our own shelter and spend the night in the frigid temps. of Antarctica alone. They would drop us off on the ice with a helicopter and a bag of things (no tent)

Writing is also one of my passions. By combining my extensive experience outdoors and my writing I’ve been able to share the knowledge I’ve gained.

outdoor life at its best

About Us

I am a parent of six children and many grandchildren. Whether we are just sitting around the fire telling stories, laughing, and eating or just watching the embers of the flame as it dies down in the evening, we have enjoyed each other’s company more around the fire than anywhere.

My sons & I love to get together and hike the hills & mountains of Colorado and Arizona and canoe the waters of Minnesota in summer. I also love going on walks with my daughters when they aren’t too busy with grandkids.

I love snowshoeing in the winter as well as hiking in the cold. Winters also find me scouring the desert in Arizona for gold and other semiprecious gems.

The spring bloom in the desert is magical and something I rarely miss. The beauty and mystery keep drawing me back every year.
